A Brief History of Pimpri Chinchwad


Pimpri Chinchwad are twin cities in Pune district of Maharashtra State, India. It is located to North West of Pune district and connected via Old Mumbai-Pune Highway.


Pimpri Chinchwad is known as PCMC which means Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, which is formed from different localities of Pimpri, Chinchwad, Kalewadi, Bhosari and Akurdi in 1970. 

Before 1960 PCMC area was totally covered by the grass, in 1960's Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) purchased vast land in area and build roads and developed other infrastructure which results in formation of hub for Information Technology, Pharmceutical, Automotive, Mechanical, Education of international importance. Thousands of peoples migrated from different parts of India to rapidly growing economy to get the benfit and to get the job.

Even if Pimpri Chinchwad is a industrial area but it has so many beautiful places to visit like Durga Devi Hill Park, Bhakti Shakti Garden, Shahu Garden, Science Park, Dehu and so many. PCMC has everything you need, from Shopping Malls, Theaters, Cinema Halls, Mc Donald's, Dominoz, KFC, Five Star Hotels to Multinational Companies, Job, Business, Real Estates and so on. 

Generally people from outside of India think that Indian cities are poorly managed and transportation facilities are not so good but Pimpri Cinchwad is highly managed, provides best transportation and mainly it is awarded as best city of India by the Government of India.
